About This Job

The Director of Youth Ministry will develop a comprehensive, relational, family-based ministry with Middle and High School youth and their families in our congregation and community. The goal of the ministry is to introduce youth to Jesus Christ, nurture their faith journey and integrate them into the life and mission of the church. God has called Lenape Valley Church to Welcome, Inspire, Nurture and Serve (WINS) all to become followers of Jesus Christ. We seek a ministry director who will WIN youth for Jesus Christ.

JOB DESCRIPTION
DIRECTOR OF YOUTH MINISTRY
Lenape Valley Church
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Youth Ministry will develop a comprehensive, relational, family-based ministry with Middle and High School youth and their families in our congregation and community. The goal of the ministry is to introduce youth to Jesus Christ, nurture their faith journey and integrate them into the life and ministry of the church.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Middle School and Senior High Youth
Create a comprehensive ministry to Middle School and High School Students. Including:
• Development and leadership for weekly Fellowship and Sunday School program
• Development and oversight for the Genesis (confirmation) program
• Create bridge between the youth and the rest of the church family of LVC
• Create bridge between EPIC (4-6th grade) and Middle School ministry
• Regular service and mission projects (at least 4) and a summer mission trip
• Regular recreational activities (at least monthly)
• Relationship building with youth outside of program activities. Mentor youth on their life/faith journey.
• Relationship building with families of youth
• Community outreach to invite youth outside the church
• Regular communication with parents and youth
• Development and oversight of social media communication
• Oversee the maintenance of statistical records.

Leadership Development
• Mentor adults and students to become active leaders in the youth program
• Develop effective teams to support and grow the youth ministry
• Create occasional recreational, bonding times for youth ministry team

Worship Leadership & Administration
• Participate in leading occasional Sunday morning worship
• Actively engage students in worship
• Attend staff meeting
• Work with Youth Development Team to grow the youth program
• Develop and manage the youth budget, calendar, and social media presence.
• Direct fund raising efforts for youth trips
• Develop relationships with area youth workers and mission partners with an eye toward collaborative programming and mutual support.

REPORTS TO:
• Pastor and Elder for Youth
• Monthly reports to Youth Development Team/Session that detail ministry health, Director’s contact work with youth and other ministry activity.

QUALITIES and QUALIFICATIONS:
• Mature, deepening faith in Jesus Christ
• Working knowledge of and passion for God’s Word
• Ability to articulate the faith in a contagious manner
• Strong commitment to relational ministry in a team-based approach
• Understanding of youth culture and experience
• Ability to engage with youth in their setting
• Fun
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field
• 2-3 years working experience with youth
• Biblical understanding consistent with the Reformed Faith
• Proven leadership and organizational ability
• Ability to work with volunteers to recruit, motivate, train and empower for ministry
• Ability to use social media and technology in ministry
• Commitment to own personal faith walk
• Role Model
